When the walls between reality 'bleeded' into each other, the Gorch Clan of an alternate reality crossed over into our dimension. Attacking a diner on the outskirts of Sunnydale, the Gorches attracted the attention of Buffy and her friends. While Buffy fought the Gorches, her Watcher, Giles, and magically inclined friends, Willow and Tara, cast a spell to close to the dimensional rift and return the Gorches to their own dimension. In the heat of the battle, Sara was staked by Buffy's ally Spike and Lyle was dusted by Buffy. Ma, Jilly and Tector were sent back to their dimension.
POWERS + WEAKNESSES
The Gorches have the standard powers of a vampire: superhuman strength, speed, reflexes, and durability, along with virtual immortality. Guns have no effect on them other than slowing them down momentarily.
The Gorches have all the vulnerabilities of a Buffyverse vampire: direct sunlight will cause combustion that would eventually kill him if he stays out in the sun's rays for more than a few seconds. A stake through the heart and decapitation would instantly kill him. In addition, certain objects of religious significance to Christians -- specifically Bibles, crucifixes, and holy water -- can burn his flesh.
