He later became a worshipper of chaos, and set shop in Sunnydale, in an attempt to become a chaos lord, but his plans were always halted by Buffy. Ethan decided instead to hire out his talents and struck a deal with a family of small, little "cutesy" demons called Hooligans to help them free their mother in exchange for wealth. Once again Buffy managed to interfere and exposed Ethan's business as a sham, causing him to leave town.
Ethan recently resurfaced following the destruction of Sunnydale, acting as Buffy's guide in the "dreamscape." where he offers her cryptic messages about an approaching twilight. He was however killed by U.S. military General Voll before he could reveal anything significant to Buffy.
