Nikki Wood was the second Slayer to be killed by the vampire Spike. Her Watcher, Bernard Crowley, resigned from the Watchers' Council and raised Robin after Nikki's death. She also had a Chinese American boyfriend named Li who was in the NYPD during her tenure as Slayer, and who may or may not have been Robin's father.

Prior to her death, Nikki fought an over-sized bat that had been shipped to New York by a vampire drug lord. Managing to wrest control of the beast, she steered it into a moving subway car. Nikki lost her boyfriend during the fiasco, and later tracked down the vampire drug lord to avenge Li's death.
